Cliff Preddy

Non-Executive Chairman

Cliff PreddyCliff is an experienced director and IT professional, who has developed and managed substantial businesses which supply major systems and services to large corporations and government departments. He joined Logica in 1969 where he worked initially as a consultant and project manager. After a number of line management appointments in subsidiaries, he joined the board of Logica plc in 1987 with responsibility for global business development in the manufacturing, energy and utilities, and government sectors. In 1990 he became Managing Director of Logica's UK- based businesses, a role he performed until leaving in September 1996 to set up Charteris as founding Chief Executive. Cliff is a graduate of Bristol University with a first class Honours degree and a Masters degree in Mathematics. He is also a non-executive director of Computacenter plc.

David Mann

Non-Executive Deputy Chairman

David MannDavid has extensive board-level experience of managing a range of IT-related businesses and ventures, from small start-ups to substantial operations, across many industry sectors in many different countries. He spent twenty-five years with Logica plc where he played a central role in leading large parts of the group's rapidly growing business. He became head of worldwide operations, then group chief executive and finally deputy chairman before leaving the group in 1994. Prior to entering the computing field, David read Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at Jesus College, Cambridge and then worked for a short time in operational research. David is also a non-executive director of Aveva Group plc (Official List) and non-executive chairman of Velti plc (quoted on AIM). He is a Past President of the British Computer Society and a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists.

Mark Wells

Non-Executive Director

Mark WellsMark is a non-executive director of Kofax plc, a FTSE listed technology company, and a non-executive deputy chairman of Process Systems Enterprise Limited, a supplier of advanced modelling software. He is also non-executive director of Invu plc, non-executive Chairman of TruthTek Limited and Chairman of Cortexplus Limited. Previously he was Chairman and CEO of Image Metrics plc, an image analysis software company and non-executive director of CODA plc. Prior to that he was COO of Brainpower NV, a supplier of advanced financial analytical software and MD UK and Vice-President of Continental Europe for Dun & Bradstreet Software. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath and a Master of Business Administration from Cranfield University. He was appointed to the Charteris Board in September 2009.

David Pickering

Chief Executive

Dave PickeringDavid is an experienced director with a track record in leading service-based businesses to achieve major growth. He became Chief Executive of Charteris in 1999 having joined the company in 1996 as board member with responsibility for business development. Prior to joining Charteris he was a senior manager with Logica where he led a number of the companys UK businesses. Latterly he became director of the Energy and Utilities Division, which grew rapidly into one of the company's largest operating units. He also has direct experience of the finance, manufacturing and distribution sectors. David is a Chartered Engineer and holds an Honours degree from Manchester University in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Masters degree in Electronic Engineering from Brunel University.

Chris Rees

Executive Director and Head of Law Firms Practice

Chris ReesChris is a highly experienced practitioner in systems for financial institutions. He has also led strategic assignments for clients in other fields such as Centrica, Meyer International and UNESCO, and he acts as an expert witness in IT disputes. Prior to joining Charteris as a founder director, he was Partner in Charge of the Financial Institutions IT Practice at Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group. His assignments there included setting up the new institutional frameworks for securities trading and settlement in Russia, Poland and Hungary and strategic advice to stock exchanges, brokers and banks in the UK, Western and Eastern Europe. Before joining Deloitte & Touche as a Partner, he held a number of management roles at Logica, ultimately as Managing Director of Logica Software Products Ltd. His earlier career was spent with IBM and Dun & Bradstreet, where he was a Product Manager. He graduated from St Andrew's University with an Honours degree in Political Economy, Logic and Metaphysics.

Patrick Carter

Finance Director and Company Secretary

Patrick CarterPatrick is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Barrister. After graduating with a LLB in law and subsequently being called to the Bar, he joined Deloitte & Touche where he qualified as an accountant. He spent a total of eight years with Deloitte, gaining valuable experience within the audit, corporate finance and corporate recovery functions. In 2001 he joined Aukett Group Plc, an AIM listed professional services company focusing on architectural services, and was appointed Group Finance Director and Company Secretary in 2002. In 2005, he oversaw the merger with a major competitor to create Aukett Fitzroy Robinson Group Plc, one of the UK’s leading commercial architectural practices. Patrick is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn.

Martin Chitty

Director for Business Development

Martin ChittyMartin is an accomplished business manager, with many years experience of operating at Director level. He has broad range of skills spanning all aspects of running IT services businesses, including consultancy, systems development and integration, IT outsourcing, business process outsourcing (BPO) and onshore/offshore delivery, primarily for the Retail and Energy sectors. Before joining Charteris, Martin was with LogicaCMG where he led one of the company’s fastest-growing business units servicing the de-regulated UK energy market. Martin graduated from Imperial College with a degree in Physics.

Alan Woodward

Head of Commercial and Technology

Alan WoodwardThe first part of Alan’s career was in government service since when he has built up many years experience of in industry. His technical specialisation is IT security and he has been pivotal in some of the most advanced solutions in operation today. Alan’s business experience includes rapidly growing businesses both through organic development and mergers and acquisitions. Alan has also managed some very large and complex IT projects, including project and commercial turnarounds. His well known understanding of how technologies can bring true business advantage often involves Alan being asked to advise organisations at the most senior level as well as appearing in the media to comment on the subject. His work has seen him elected as a Fellow and Chartered member of institutions including the British Computer Society, the Institute of Physics and the Royal Statistical Society.

Allan Barr

Head of Operations

Allan BarrAllan brings over 25 years experience in the management of service businesses, large-scale programme management and consulting. He has extensive experience in the financial services sector; retail, corporate and investment banking. Allan was formerly director of the internal management consultancy of the Barclays Bank Group that specialised in business change, strategy development, organisational design and applied technology. Immediately prior to joining Charteris, Allan was the Managing Director of Flow Interactive, a specialist user research and design company, developing the business into one of the largest user centred design consultancies in the UK.

Andrew Rogoyski

Head of Public Sector Practice

Andrew RogoyskiAndrew is an experienced senior manager operating primarily in the UK central Government sector. Andrew brings a wealth of knowledge to Charteris having had involvement in the defence, space, financial service and broadcast industries, working with clients in the UK and across Europe. Before joining Charteris Andrew was Managing Director of QinetiQ’s UK space business, having previously worked as a managing consultant at ESYS plc and, prior to that, at LogicaCMG where he held a number of senior management positions including operations, programme management, business management and technical leader. Andrew graduated from King’s College London with a PhD in Physics.

Roger Woods

Head of Scotland and Northern England Practice

Roger WoodsRoger was previously Business Development Director on the Board of Cedalion, where he was instrumental in achieving significant growth for the company, leading to the company’s inclusion in the Deloitte Fast 50 awards for 4 consecutive years. His success in this role resulted in him being appointed to Head of Charteris’ Northern Practice following the integration of Cedalion into Charteris. Roger has been part of teams that have successfully managed several other professional services businesses, particularly those offering expertise in Microsoft technologies. His roles have primarily involved business development and marketing in high growth consultancy companies delivering business solutions in the Finance, Government, Legal, Manufacturing and Services sectors. David Darling

Head of Supply Chain Management Practice

David DarlingDavid joined the Company in September 2008 and has thirty years of experience in the IT industry, most recently as the Managing Director of SIG Consulting prior to its acquisition by Charteris. His career includes five years as commercial manager of the Electrolux Household Appliances UK operation, where he was responsible for all operational activities of the sales and marketing company. Between 1996 and 1999, Dave was European Implementation Director for the rolling out of a major international ERP project and has gained a wealth of experience in pan-European implementations, international team creation and vendor management. back to the top of the page
 

Clive Harper

Head of Human Resources

Clive HarperClive joined Charteris in 2008 and is a qualified Human Resources professional with an MSc in HR Development and a Diploma in Training Management. His experience includes working as HR Director and Head of Group Human Resources for businesses in Telecoms, Supply Chain and Motorsport. He has also held senior positions within blue chip consultancy, the defence industry and the public sector. A focus on employee engagement strategies, executive coaching and integrated HR services has enabled Clive to deliver large and complex HR projects in both the UK and Europe for established and start-up businesses. Clive is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and has Licentiateship of the City and Guilds Institute.
